Our History

In 2011 we formed and became the fastest growing and then, for a period, the largest club in the country.  Our success and the publicity around it helped bring the Tour De France to Yorkshire in 2014 and the further development of cycling in the region. In 2013 we were honoured for our growth and inclusivity by being awarded the national "Sports Club of the Year". You can read more about our history here.

Joining Ilkley Cycling Club is quick and easy to do and you won't regret it. You'll become part of one of the UK's largest and most successful cycling community clubs and join the "cycling capital" of Yorkshire!

Our Rides

We have a regular programme of group rides which are inclusive and vary in their nature from easy, social rides to very hard rides for competitive racers. Our main club rides are on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings, but we have a regular programme of rides all week. You are sure to find a group to ride with, and as your cycling needs change, you’ll be able to try different groups and ride speeds. You'll find welcoming smiles and encouragement across all the rides, and make many new friends along the way. All the details are listed on what we call the Rides App on this site.

Our Community

We are still very involved in the development of cycling within the Yorkshire region, including running our own events locally including the famous White Rose Classic sportive and Ilkley Town Centre Races. It's great to be part of supporting and delivering these events, and you can get involved in the organising and helping on the day. We are a real part of the Ilkley and Yorkshire community and have recognised over the years with a series of civic awards.

Our Social Side

It’s not just about being on the bike! We have a regular programme of social activities which include screenings (in a pub!) of some of the largest professional races (e.g. classics and grand tour stages), weekends away, warm weather training in Mallorca, summer BBQ and Christmas parties amongst many other things. Watch the Club Calendar for Events.

Our Youth Development Programme

We run a series of coached sessions and development activities for our youngsters with our qualified coaching team, and we are a British Cycling Go-Ride certified club. Learn more about ICC Youth Groups.

Our Race Pedigree

Club members actively compete on the road, cyclocross and mountain disciplines. Over the years, Club riders have competed in the road, time trial, and hill climb National Championships.  Club members also hold national records for point-to-point rides in solo and tandem categories.

Our Member Discounts

Membership of the club also allows a range of discounts at local shops and businesses. You’ll find you'll recover your membership fees with just a few purchases through the year, and you'll be welcomed and supported into those establishments and helped with advice on what bikes or accessories are best for you.
